2977 - Brin Londo is born to a single mother on Zuun.

2991 - 14-year-old Brin becomes a street thug & gang member.

2994 - 17-year-old Brin contracts an extremely rare distant mutation of Lycanthropy. He becomes a feral creature roaming the streets & forests of Zuun.

2999 - 22-year-old Brin is found by the Legion of Super Heroes who help him find a way to control his lycanthropy. He becomes a member.

3000 - 23-year-old Brin helps console Tinya Wazzo in Jo Nah's absence. She gives birth to his son & loses her control of her powers. Knowing himself incapable of raising the boy himself, he becomes a smuggler with Jo Nah's so they can raise him together.

3004 - 27-year-old Brin & Jo Nah begin a polyamorous relationship with Tinya Wazzo when she returns to their family.

3005 - 28-year-old Brin joins the reformed Legion of Super Heroes when it reforms.

It's very easy to look at the Legion's feral warrior and assume that he's yet another Wolverine rip off. Since the introduction of the incredibly popular X-men character, practically every team of characters has featured at least on character that serves as their wolverine allegory, and Timberwolf would definitely fill that role...

If he hadn't debuted a full decade before Wolverine's first appearance.

Granted, Timberwolf's appearance has varied wildly over the years, spanning from something fairly generic to his harier, more feral, long-clawed look. This is likely more to do with Wolverines unprecented popularity. Nonetheless, though, Brinn is a LONG-standing member of the Legion, and without him you really don't have the Legion proper. While we did our best to avoid the Legion's tendancy to have lots of redundant characters, Brin is really something else entirely. There's no one quite like him.

We've more or less constructed a pretty large bit of story featuring Timberwolf out of smaller, disconected peieces from a few dofferent timelines. While many of the different members of the LEgion are known for having been in relationships, his relationship with TInya Wazzo stands out because it was relatively short, because they head a child, and because she is generally, in most versions of the Legion, in a relationship with Ultra Boy.

While trying to sort out exactly how we would go about using that relationship in our own timeline, it occurred to us that this was an excellent chance to actually create one of the very first depictions of a polyamorous relationship in comics. The Legion was already notably groundbreaking for depicting same sex relationships and trans characters, so it seems rather fitting that we resolve the relationship triangle between these three beloved characters in a way that is fittingly forward thinking. I'm sure there are fans of the characters that aren't going to like it, but frankly it fits with the characters, with the world they live in, and the Legion itself.

Meanwhile, we've made some very specific adjustments to Brinn himself, actually coming out and saying that the thing that gives him his powers is a space-based version of Lycanthrope. Comics often shy away from coming out and SAYING someone is a werewolf, but we happen to thing it's cooler to embrace it.
