The Green Lantern Corps is one of the biggest parts of DC's universe of interstellar characters, so it's absolutely to be expected that their influence extends all the way into the world of The Legion. Rond Vidar, the Green Lantern character serving a member of the Legion, was introduced in 1966 and appeared in many of the various versions of the teams timeline in some very interesting stories, some of which involved him actually serving as a spy within the ranks of the Legion.
We won't be using him. Instead, we're taking a page from the comic tie-in with the animated Legion of Superheroes series, and using the completely unique character invented there; Jordana Gardner. Her name is clearly meant to suggest that she's a descendant of several famous modern-era Lanterns, and she has a fantastic energy that will make her an excellent addition to our newly reformed Legion. In the comic she's refered to as Teen Lantern, which has a certain Legion flare, but we chose instead to go with a bit more traditional Legion name Lantern Girl. If nothing else convinces you that this is absolutely the character we need to go with: Her partner within the Lanterns is Gen'ma, and anthropomorphic panda. |
