5 years ago - 23-year-old Dorah joins the Global Gardians to expand her profile. She attempts to romance Fang Zhifu.
4 years ago - 24-year-old Dorah is killed by Warmaker One.

Godiva is one of the characters that were built specifically FOR the Global Guardians. The idea of a character with prehensile hair had obviously already been used in Marvel's Medusa, a character created by Jack Kirby and who is subsequently awesome. Godiva actually expanded on those powers a little bit; she would actually manipulate her hair into wings, allowing her to fly, or somehow use her hair to obscure her appearance, giving her a version of invisibility. If anything, the thing that made her a unique character was her status as a wealthy british socialite.
Her inclusion in the new 52 Justice League International enhanced her profile a bit, changing her name to 'Dora' from 'Dorcas'... which I think we can all agree was a pretty good call. Her membership in our Global Guardians is actually fairly brief before she is killed by Warmaker One. We've spoken about our frustration with characters getting killed to further other character's stories, but Godiva actually fulfills a larger narrative purpose this way than she would if she remained alive. |
