31-year-old Alec Holland's labs are broken into by men looking to steal his Bio-restorative Formula, sent by his financeer 49-year-old Avery Sunderland who wants to keep the formula for himself. The resulting explosion kills 32-year-old Linda Holland, and he runs, engulfed in glame, into the swamp. He dies, but the formula effects the plants in the swamp, allowing them to rapidly grow and mutate, and absorb the memories of Alec Holland, until they rise up as Swamp Thing, a creature the believes it is Alec Holland.
34-year-old Travis Morgan & 31-year-old Machiste are sold to a gladiator school, becoming two of the most infamous gladiators in Skartaris. When 37-year-old Deimos attends one of their tournaments, Morgan sees 24-year-old Tara in attendance, and Machiste is able to identify her as the princess of Shamballah. Morgan begins planning his rebellion. Tara rejects Deimos's advances, living as a prisoner in the Theran dungeon rather than his consort.
Orion learns that his mother Tigra is still alive and imprisoned on Apokolips, He assaults the planet and inflicts massive damage before he is gunned down and nearly killed, saved only by the last minute intervention of Himon, who hides him while his daughter Bekka heals him. Lightray arrives and provides a distraction as Orion attempts again with Bekka hiding him with her powers. They free Tigra, and Himon helps them escape to New Genesis, telling Bekka that she's meant to be with Orion.
