34-year-old Alec Holland learns from 24-year-old Abigail Cable that her husband 29-year-old Matthew Cable has stepped down as a S.H.A.D.E. agent and been hired by Eric Loveday, a wealthy scientist that has taken over a plantation as his new labratories, with the intention to capture and exploit the Swamp Thing and learn the secret of of his mutation. They are successful and Abigail breaks into the labs to free him, where they discover that Loveday is in fact 60-year-old Anton Arcane, disguising his deformity, having approached 52-year-old Avery Sunderland and revealing that the Swamp Thing may be a result of Alec Holland's Bio-restorative Formula so that he will fund his research. Arcane rebuilds himself into a hideous monster to confront Swamp Thing, and is ultimately killed. Cable becomes a local cop.
26-year-old Barry Allen first tangles with 26-year-old Leonard Snart, who steals a miniature cyclotron and completes his first cold gun and become Captain Cold. His ally Clyde Mardon dies in an accident caused by his brother 23-year-old Mark Mardon, who becomes Weather Wizard. 32-year-old Sam Scudder uses his mastery of mirrors to escape prison & become the Mirror Master.
24-year-old Hal Jordan discovers Thaal Sinestro's tactic of ruling his home planet of Korugar through fear. 42-year-old Kilowog & 39-year-old Tomar-Re are among the only Lanterns to believe Hal's claims about Sinestro. He undermines Sinestro's regime and exposing him to the Guardians of Oa. Sinestro is stripped of his rank and banished into Qwardian Space where he leads a revolution against Kalmin the High Thunderer, becoming the new leader of the Weaponers of Qward.
24-year-old Paul Booker is released from prison. He discovers the location of Abin Sur's ship, and steals an alien weapon that absorbs energy directly from the planet to make him stronger. He attacks 24-year-old Hal Jordan, but in their fight the weapon is broken, and he is subjected to a cosmic causality wave binding him to the energy fields of the planet, enabling him to manipulate it's natural energies and force enviormental reactions. He again fights Hal, taking the name becomes Major Disaster.
